On route to the Mekong, we passed this funny building. Nobody seems to know
what it is. Boarding our private boat. |
Both Phuongs on their way to our boat. Martin is
safely tucked away on the boat. |
All 3 of us, ViAnh, Phuong and
Martin with the drive in the back. Our friendly
tour guide, Phuong too. It was difficult to hear her over the engine noise. |
One of the many barges on the
river, basically transporting sand and building matrials.
Lot of idle tourist boats due to the Chinese virus. |
River side housing.
We visited a bee farm. Plenty of them. |
Cooking coconut juice to make
candy. Very taste but fattening. |
A walk in the hedge groves.
Jack fruits. |
Coconuts, plenty of them.
Phuong getting instructions how to make cosmetics from the bees' products. |
Phuong with a bee hive divider.
Treacherous bridge. Phuong didn't walk the plank. |
Time for a little ride with a pony.
All 4 loaded up, included the guide.
Off we went for some 600 meters. |
This is a house for
swallow bird nests. Very popular as a dish called bird nests soup.
Time to take a small river trip. |
It didn't last long.
but was interesting. Some of them waiting for
customers. |
It was interesting on
the crowded waterway. Watch the
video. The fruits from the coconut tree. In
addition to coconuts, you get these funny looking fruits. |
Vietnamese don't care
much for the environment. Just throw the rubbish where they are.
Time for another boat trip. |
Nice looking boat.
Our gang plank of concrete ashore. |
Another barge.
All three at a central point on one of the many islands. This is
Con Phung Ben Tre. Click the link for more details about the area.
Really nice area.
Figures cut out out the coconut base. Fancy. No flash. |
Here, the same figures
taken with a flash. ViAnh and her grandma Phuong
having fun in the bubbles. |
Getting inflated inside
the bubble. Here the bubbles are for rent. 3 USD
for 15 minutes. |
Inside the bubble
having fun. Watch the video.
Crocodile farm. |
Still inside.
Feeding fishes. Can also be seen in the video. |
Time for lunch.
Very big barges on the river.
The way they serve fish. Really impressive. |
A very nice stone
display. They are interlinked. The lunch was
fantastic. Here is the lot after taking down the fish. |
ViAnh with the stone
arrangement in the background. ViAnh and the
fish on display. |
Mud fish at low tide.
Not for human consumption. Time to leave.
Phuong, ViAnh and Martin on the quay. |
Phuong tour guide is
giving a helping hand to ViAnh. Biological and
plastic rubbish of all kind in the river.
Mekong is one of the world's worst plastic polluters, sending millions
of tons of plastic into the sea. |
Sand barges.
A bridge from 2010 crossing the Mekong river. The sea is some 17 kms away,
but we are in brackish waters. |
In the evening, a visit to the Spanish restaurant
La Fiesta. Close to our hotel,
Very nice interior but a louse Sangria. Very
badly made. Worth a visit. |
