Summing it all up.

Dec 11th, on the road to Upington

This time Martin headed for Upington, half way across the continent or 825 km from Johannesburg. See the map below:

There is a bigger version of this map giving you the overview of the sub-continent. Just click it!

To the left, Anne is off to work at Mid Rand.

To the right, Bridget, Anne's mother-in-law opening the security gate. They have infrared beams crossing the gardens doing the nights.

Bridget and Maurice Snr. Nice couple.

Junior and Senior having a heated discussion about local workers.

Johanna, Anne's maid and Johanna's daughter.

The products that the Carrés are selling.

Junior and his helper loading the twister.

Bridget outside the bank after having deposited the previous day's takings. She had armed escort in the form Martin.

Martin stocking up on biltong before the long haul to Upington.

Last drink at Matey's before taking off.

They even have Fredrikstad outside Johannesburg.

Not a nice place.

Taking off the main road at Wolmaransstad towards Vryburg.

It is in the grain producing area. Big storage silos on they way out of Wolmaransstad.

Half way to Vryburg was the funny named city of Schweitzer-Reneke.

And there wasn't much in this town either.

Your trusty .45 ACP is nice to have about. It don't cry and don't give you any hassle of any kind. More reasons for guns are better than women?

I works with no remorse, no regrets, and it will work as long as you pull the trigger.

The last 100 kms towards Upington, the average speed was just about 132 kms an hour. The sun sets in the West, and Upington is in the West.

The area in Northern Cape is just bush land, except for the irrigated areas around Upington.

At last at Greenfield Gardens where Delida is in charge.

A nice dinner at BiLo.

Local dish, ostrich steak, neatly done by the chef.

The local chef, doing the cooking in full view of the guests. Entertaining.

The following day, Tuesday Dec 12th, Martin was in Upington, doing his pictures and took a trip to Augrabies Falls National Park.
