Just had my early morning liquid bread after uploading the
pictures at Pierre next door. Zorba, a boat built in
Grimstad, Norway in 1920 and brought to Eilat some 20 years ago to serve as
a tourist boat. |
The stern of Zorba. And the sun deck. A
little overcrowded with beds and chairs. |
Friends from Tønsberg, Trond and Bitten.
View of Eilat waterfront. Note the grill over the railings. Nice, practical
touch. |
The hangar of some military installation in the industrial
area of Eilat harbor. A view of the shore line of the
tourist ghetto at Eilat. |
The guide and the captain in action as we leave the harbor.
Hotel detail. Some hotel :-) |
Desert along the Red Sea. One offer on the
Zorba was hang gliding after a small speedboat that came out to Zorba. |
Ready for a dip in the Red Sea. Two hotels
in two different countries. Egypt to the left and Israel to the right. Since
gambling is illegal the hotel advertise with CASINO across its top front. |
At the anchor place another boat laid as well as we prepared
to have snorkeling session in the sea. Only three of us from the boat dared.
Yours truly among them as well. After the snorkeling trip,
some scratches after too close encounters to the coral reef. |
Then it was time for food. People queuing up. And it was
very good. Chicken, sausages and lovely salads. Tasted great.
Close up of the Princess hotel, the last one on the Israeli side. |
And the ever present Israeli Defense Force (IDF) had a an
exercise involving the air wing and navy. Then the local
winter set in. Cold wind gushes with a few rain drops. Martin had his trusty
fur lined coat that can cope with most of cold weather situations. |
The underwater observatory close to the border.
A Thai inspired hotel next to the Red Sea is a very posh hotel among
Israelis, but expensive. |
Oil terminal donated by the Shah of Persia. It was friendly
government then, not the crazed, nuclear fueled idiots of today's Iran.
A dolphin park. The dolphins comes from the black sea. |
Store halls for minerals from the Dead Sea, Israel's second
largest income earner after high tech stuff. A casino boat
since gambling is illegal in Israel. They went into international waters and
gambling could take place. A financial fiasco. |
Another view of the shorefront of Eilat. The
Jordanian flag on the border to this country. |
Back home with our companion boat, l'Amie.
At night, a tuna salad of immense dimension was consumed.
Really big and tasty. |
The girls behind the counter had a lot of fun with their
fellow male workers, themselves and the guests. Cute, aren't
they? |
