To the left, 152 Norwegian queuing up for the three busses
taking us to Nashville. To the right, the backseat drivers,
Martin, Elinor and Astrid having a great time drinking beer and munching
American food. |
A short stop at WallMart to stock up for some grub.
Martin's chow, Budweiser and Beef Jerky. The latter have only 3% fat and is
all proteins. Great with beer. |
The view from the back seat. Arriving at
HOLIDAY INN SELECT OPRYLAND, a
very plush hotel but no fridge in the rooms. That was a loss. Martin had to
get some ice from the machine to chill his beers. |
The busses lined up for going downtown Nashville.
The Holiday Inn had a nice indoor swimming pool, but there was no time to
enjoy it. |
The map to the left shows the two main points in downtown
Nashville. The Wild Horse Inn labeled A and Hard Rock Café labeled B. The
busses stopped at the latter. The Hard Rock Café entrance. |
The sign seen from the steps of the Hard Rock Café in
Nashville. Downtown Nashville. A lot of impressive,
monumental buildings. |
Another fancy building of downtown Nashville.
The customs building that looks more like a church. |
Broadway Boulevard in Nashville. It's marked on the
map above.
Martin and Roy wanted to go to the Ryman
Auditorium, a museum for music history, but it was closed. Here you see
the plaque outside the building. |
Martin's Guitar Company from 1833 had an enourmous selection
of guitars, new and old, ranging from US $ 1000,- up to 10,000.-.
Martin's best music place in town,
Robert's Western World, Bar & Grill downtown Nashville. There are a few
sound clips, worth listening to of the group to the right.
Clip1,
Clip2,
Clip3 and
Clip4. They play well in
WinAmp, not so well in Windows Mediplayer. |
The proud owner of a Harley. It
sounds great too!
In a bluegrass shop, Martin said hello to Pat Boon. |
In a bluegrass pub, Roy and Martin listened to some
bluegrass music. You can
too. Then is it time to queue up outside The
Wild Horse Saloon. IT takes
time to get all 151 Norwegians through the gates. |
The sign outside the Saloon, one of the best known places
for country music in the USA. Feeding 151 persons takes some
logistics. Here a buffet dinner that was very tasty, except the dessert that
was American apple pie soaked in suger. |
The first lot of performers
was very good. Not the
rest. A lot of noise and little musicality. |
BEER. The reason for getting up in
the afternoon. Picture on the wall of Robert's Western World, Bar
& Grill downtown Nashville. This was the best place for real music. The rest
of the crownd had too much volume and just sounded like bad noise. Martin
used ear plugs of paper towels. Great for reducing the hearing loss. |
