First, Martin had to leave Beijing, go to Chongqing before going to Bangkok to stay a further 3 days before returning to Nang Rong. Last time?

Early morning at the Park Plaza Hotel, looks very peaceful.

Martin's cab driver rocked up spot on at 0600 as agreed upon.

Farewell to the Park Plaza Hotel for now. Most probably, Martin will never come back to this communist dictatorship. Commies are commies. Lick their boots or end up in jail or worse.

the streets at this time in the morning are very nice and quiet.

Early morning is beautiful in most places.

Going East into the morning sun.

the commies make very good roads.

A fancy building towards the sun rise.

Water tower or whatever?

Going East.

Off to terminal 3, domestic flights to Chongqing.

Toll road just before the airport. Some really fancy scaffolding here.

China Service Mansion, what the heck is that? Suggestions appreciated.

At the airport, Terminal 3 for domestic flights.

Martin's departure gate at terminal 3.

there is a plane from the Tibetan Airline? Tibet was invaded by the commies in the early 50-ties, they killed some 120 000 Tibetans and destroyed some 9000 religious shrines, temples and symbols. the commies realize their follies and have rebuilt most for their tourist trade.

Arrived in the miserable town of Chongqing.

Off to Terminal 2 in Chongqing, the International gate.

Commie soldiers at Terminal 3. Worth anything in combat? Doubtful. But they had a very nice film for the visitors at the departure lounge.

Tibet has been an integral part of China since it invaded and occupied it in 1950 and onwards.

Lovely Miss Lieu at the restaurant after passing the security check.

Martin is spending his last Yuan on beers and a little food.

the restaurant was very neat.

the cabinet for drinks was very orderly laid out so it was easy to find your brand.

Martin saying good-bye to Miss Lieu.

Time to queue up for the last leg to Bangkok.

Air Asia took us to Bangkok. End of a miserable trip to the communist dictatorship of Red China. the commies had done an impressive job on the country after Mao almost ran it into the ground.
April 9th, 75 years after, nice breakfast.

Martin enjoys being back in BKK.

the pool is nice, even thought Martin cannot use it due to his throat infection.
April 10th, last day in Bangkok for now. Lai posing in front of the Heineken commercial.

Lai in front of the garden at Rosabieng restaurant in Soi 11, Martin's favorite.

Off to Martin's Swiss restaurant.

Martin likes Swiss Schartzwaler ham.

Martin is ogling the nice Swiss ham at the Swiss restaurant next to the beer hall.

Lai is holding the tray with Swiss ham. In the background, Jacques former MD of the Ambassador.

Enjoying the ham with pickles and lettuce. Lovely.

A quick stop outside German beer hall next to the Swiss restaurant.

Lai went and visited her sister Far and family.

Far and another sister Varin at the sales stand Far has.

Varin with the cool drinks.

the sales stand is one among many.

Lai at the cool drinks.

Varin busy behind the counter.

Far room was very overcrowded with sisters, brothers, nieces and enphews.

Far's son in the background among cousins of both sexes.

the way into Far's flat, crummy, dirty and overcrowded.
April 11th, off to Nang Rong. Passing Grand Swiss on our way to the breakfast restaurant, the Lido.

Martin with his favorite, grilled pork strips and fresh fruits for breakfast.

Lai likes tall buildings and plenty cables.

Martin in the bushes.

Cable mess.

Lai's big face.

Lai's breakfast. She cannot eat anything but Thai.

Off to the bus station. the trip took only 20 minutes. Close to the hotel.

Waiting for the bus.

Martin getting beers from Mama.

Mama beer. She is a lovely lady.

Back to the bus station.

NCA Gold line, a very good bus.

Lai and Martin in the bus.

the bus itself. We got served waster and a small meal. the toilet was acceptable clean.

Martin slept a lot. Due to Songkran, the trip took 7,5 hours instead of 5.

the next week, Friday April 11th, it was time to go to Nang Rong for the last time?
