Summing it all up.

TanyasPhotos

It's Martin's second trip with Nazar to Egypt. The trip is really worth the money and highly recommended.

BUS-SIZE
The busses are two small for Europeans. Much worse than on any plane experienced. And the luggage department is far too small, making it necessary to store luggage inside the bus. We in Scandinavia is getting fatter by the year. Get bigger busses please!

EXCURSIONS
Do not to take the largest excursion packets. It's too much. Rather take the optional ones.

TIP
Why is not € 75,- per person in tips not included. Legally, the tourists are not obliged to pay this excess which is an annoyance. Nazar should include it in the travel price. Itemize it on the ticket.

CABIN EXTRA
And extras for better cabin. Forget it. Some € 100,- for the same cabin two decks up is a complete waste of time. Identical cabin and same noise level. Martin tried both. No difference. If you pay less you don't have to walk unnecessary stairs.

CHRISTMAS- AND NEW YEAR'S EVE DINNER
Some € 75,- extra for these dinners. For what? I expected traditional Scandinavian cuisine this night, and we got none. And food was included. Those smart ones that didn't pay any extra for the food, ate the same grub.

New Year's Eve
dinner was a logistic nightmare. When some 1000 guest are to be feed from 6 different feeding boots, it has to be long queues and waiting time. And on top of it all, undisciplined Russians didn't care about the queues and broke in where it suited them. And by the time you got your food, it was cold. Waste of money. A little comfort was it to take the booze bottles back to the room for a quiet night cap.

And the table music was loud disco music, completely unsuited for a nice sit-down dinner.

QUESTIONS
Never pay extra for any food. And I have a question to Nazar. This extra money, does it go to the cruise/hotel operators or just into Nazar's coffers? If it goes to the operators, I would like a copy of the money transfer.

Nazar's answer was as follows:

At Nazar we value return customers. As a matter of fact this is exactly how we have been building our company from the very beginning. We do not advertise in medias as much as other Travel Agencies, but we prefer to take advantage of the best advertising available  - namely word of mouth from satisfied customers.

Therefore we appreciate your comments laid on your site and also the opportunity to respond and elaborate on some of your comments.

On December 1st 2005 our agent in Egypt bought brand new buses seating 51 passengers, but after a few weeks we realized, that there was not enough leg room for that amount of people. Upon our request 4 rows were removed, so they now seat only 43 passengers. This also resolves the problem with excessive luggage. I apologize that you did not benefit from this change.

Whether to buy the small og the large excursion package is a question of the individual's interest in egyptian history and mythology. However, not to go on any excursions, while sailing on the Nile, is a mistake - which is what Martin did last year, and which I am sure he did regret. You might feel that the large package is too much - others would disagree.

Everyone, who has been to Egypt, knows that "Bakschisch" is a very important word - not only in the language spoken, but certainly and especially in the way of life. Bakschisch or tips is an integrated part of any Egyptians salary. As Scandinavians we do have difficulties understanding this term due to the fact, that we included tips in all services rentered many years ago.

This is not the case in Egypt and neither is it the case on any Cruise Ship throughout the world.

In order to secure our customers the best possible service and as a token to our acceptance of the way of life in the country we are visiting, Nazar has decided to collect the amount required and distribute these funds according to customs. This procedure is stated very clearly in both our brochure, on our web site and as a part of the information envelope handed to each participant upon arrival.

Furthermore, the amount is 37,- Euro per person - and not 75,- Euro as you stated. It is not included for administrative reasons - it would be impossible for us to pay out such funds to more than 120 people each week without the necessary documentation.

As any other Cruise Ship in the world Magic 1 is split up in different categories - Upper deck/Lower deck - Front and back. Some people are sensitive to noise while sailing - others are not.

In regards to the Christmas Dinner onboard Magic 1, I will have to disagree with you. A Christmas Dinner in a muslim country could never be Scandinavian style - simply because pork is not available. The menu was International and we have had nothing but possitive comments on the Magic 1 Christmas Dinner and every single guest attending paid the same mandatory amount.

Hilton Long Beach Hotel is a hotel with more than 850 rooms and the fact that some guests have difficulties respecting command queue rules is unfortunately beyond our control. But again I have to state the fact, that we have had no unfavourable comments on the Hilton Long Beach New Years Dinner.

In conclusion it is important for Nazar to state the following:

All extra money paid was exactly in accordance with the terms and conditions for your trip, clearly stated in the Nazar Brochure and on the Nazar web site.

Sincerely

Steen Digemose
