Summing it all up.

On Friday the 23rd, we visited the botanical garden after finishing the web
pictures.
|
Enroute to the botanical garden on Kitchener Island, we
passed this unfinished hotel on a piece of prime estate on the Nile, a
beautiful island. Stupid. Tear it down or finish it.
Entrance to the botanical garden as we step ashore. |

Tanya with the sand dunes of the West bank in the
background. In the park, some school girls want to practice
their English. In the middle, Johnny. To the left, Tanya and Daddy Martin
covered in the vegetation to the right. |

|
One of the trees brought their by Lord Kitchener, Roystonia
Regia. The Lord brought plants from all over the British commonwealth and
died in 1924 when the island went back to the Egyptian government.

Arenca Pinnata, one of the trees in the park.
And Tanya next to Dad and one of the trees. |

One of the local AK boys with no AK47. Dad
taking a photo of the nice trees in the garden. |
|
|
Always pestered by pop-ups, unwanted salesmen trying to sell
you stuff you don't want. Nice rest area with the view to
the west bank. |
|
|
And green it was. This island was very
popular with the locals, and being Friday, the day off, many local families
brought their kids with them to this blessed place. Very few wives though. |

Back onto the boat, Eiffel, that takes us there and back to
Magic 1. The whole group. From the left, Johnny, Anne-Lise,
Tanya, Kjell and Jorunn. In the front, Daddy Martin. |
|
|
Last glimpse of the Kitchener Island and its lovely flowers
and trees. High water mark used by the old Egyptians to set the tax level.
The higher the water, the more tax they could levy. |

The map showing where Kom Ombo is in relation to Aswan. At 19:45, after arriving at Kom Ombo, we visited the
temple. Here is the entrance. |
|
|
The well was dug to let in water from the Nile and to keep
crocks in. An intricate system of tunnels. And the overview
as we exited the temple. |
|
During the night, we travelled downstream to Edfu where we stayed the night.
The next day,
we left Edfu for Luxor through the water locks.
