Summing it all up.

TanyasPhotos

Today, we visited the temple of Horus and set sail for Aswan.

To the left, Horus temple is situated at Edfu where there is a river crossing as well.

On the way to the Horus temple.

The massive entrance to the temple.

The Horus temple was covered by sludge from the Nile and as such very well preserved when it was excavated during the 1860's..

Since it was gone for so long the locals started building a new town on top of it. The houses can still been seen, surrounding the temple.

The guardian of the pharaohs was the falcon as seen here at the entrance of the temple.

Overview of the temple area.

Inside the temple walls.

At Kom Ombo, upstream from Edfu. See map.

And at the shore, the ever present AK boy with his trusty Kalashnikov 47.

And there is a train running to Aswan where it stops.

Nice train.

With water, everything grows. Here palm trees along the Nile.

And some boats use ores to propel themselves.

Daddy Martin in his fancy safari suit for the dress party.

The sunset over the nile.

The next day, we visited the unfinished obelisk and the Aswan dams.
