To the left, Ellen and our friendly cleaning
boy, Sam. To the right, the fascinating, manual tarring of
the road. Labor is cheap. |
For Martin, tarring a road by hand is
fascinating. Not seen since his early childhood in Norway in
the 50ties. There is a video clip
of 20MB you can download. But Windows media player doesn't work to well. Try
www.winamp.com instead. |

Ellen wanted to buy some silk for her Lapp
friends, but they don't make the kind wanted in India. Ellen
being pestered by a clinging street hawker. |
The buzzing street of Mapusa in Northern Goa.
This is where the silk market is situated. Have a look
at the map to see exactly where Mapusa is situated.
Indian women in their colorful saris are really beautifully
dressed. |
A local has decorated his bike with a bouquet of
roses. Cute. On the way to the beach, it was time for a
quick beer on a local café. |
Since Suren, our driver was with us, the barman
didn't cheat us, as Martin was without local escort. Really a nice touch of
local flavor at this place. A concrete factory making fence
poles of sorts. |
One of the tranquil water you find around Goa.
A squatter camp. Not particular 5 star accommodation. |
Nice palm trees along the road.
More waters. |
Colorful house along the road.
More palm trees with the cows in the foreground. |
On to our last beach, Golden Eye after one of
the James Bond films. Nice it was with some 300
degrees in the sea. |
Nice sibling couple, Ellen and Martin at their
end of a lovely holiday in Goa. One lone local ship on the
beach. |
Close-up of the boat with its stabilizer.
The boat is literally stitched together with treads. Have a close look. |
Rock outcrop on the beach, resemblance to Norwegians
archipelago.
Suren, our trusty driver for most of the time in Goa. Very
good and reasonable service. Some INR 700,- (€ 6,25) for a day. Good deal.
You can reach him on +91 9822-581-522. |

Martin with his latest purchase of shirts in
Goa. Fancy colors. The fish, fresh out of the sea. Ellen
checked, living in the far North of Norway, she knows a fresh fish when she
sees one. And poke it with your finger. Does the dent disappear fast, it's
fresh. We picked the one to the far left. |
Martin with the cook and owner of the Golden Eye
shack with no electricity, but ice blocks. The food was excellent.
The finished fish. Excellently prepared with just the right spices for
European palates. Should be tried. |
The view from the shack bar towards the sea. A
beautiful place. You don't have to swim to exercise on the
beach. You can run or bike as this couple does. |
Ellen is packing her beach bag for the last time
in Goa. Hopefully, she will get her husband Torbjørn to go with her the next
time. She definitely will try. On the way back over the Chapora River
we saw this nice river boat. Have a look
at the map to see exactly where Chapora river is. It's clearly marked. |
The impressive bridge over the Chapora. Nice
engineering work. Martin is actually trained as one and can appreciate a
nice construction when he sees one. The last picture in Goa
for now, but Martin will be back
Dec 26th, 2007. It shows Suren's car through the gates of a
Buddhist temple. |
