To the left, one of the nice buildings from the Portuguese colonial times on
the road to the capital of Goa, Panaji. Have a look at the map for where the
capital is.
To the right, we are in Panaji to visit our dentists, the
Pinto couple. |
To find the dentist wasn't easy. Here a friendly
Indian on the street phone them to find out the correct building to visit.
We only got the address of EDC Plaza,Patto, and there were stacks of
buildings there. Rosy, one of the friendly receptionist that
greeted us on arrival at
PINTO DENTAL a Multidisciplinary Dental & Implant Clinic. Highly
recommended and Martin saved some € 2500,- on this one visit. The Norwegian
dentist wanted €3000,- for a 5 crown dental bridge, but Sherryl Pinto only
took € 450 for the same job. Norway is extremely costly for most of the
things in life. Martin will be back. |
Another of the friendly girls at the
Pintos. Ellen not to happy in the dentist's chair. But after
Sherryl did her tricks, she was most content. |
The dentist herself,
Dr Sherryl Pinto. A true
professional dentist that knew her handicraft. Well worth a visit.
Chris and Wendy, a nice UK couple
that spoke very warmly about El Shadai Street Rescue for children. In India,
they seem to care more for stray dogs than stray abandoned children. Martin
considers to donate some of his offshore funds to the cause.
Dr Pascal Pinto is also one
of the contributors in the form of free dental care for the children, now
and then. Commendable. |
The view from the chair.
Sherryl hard at work with some of Martin's casts. |
Martin in the chair. He sat there for full two
hours. But saving some € 2500,- it's worth it. The building
where the PINTO DENTAL Multidisciplinary Dental & Implant Clinic resides.
Hard to find. Worth a visit. |
It was in one of the buildings belonging to Bank
of India. Then it was time for a beach visit. The Coconut
Beach. On the way to the beached we passed by one of the nice churches of
Goa. |
Opposing the church, you have this nice setup.
Including some Buddhist rosary. They are tolerant in Goa. Not a Muslim
country. Martin and Ellen on the path down to the beach. |
As the name implies, there are coconut palm
trees all over the place.
Martin at his best, relaxing after a two hour stint in the
dentist's chair. No drinks of any kind for the next hour. It worked well.
But then he had some beers. |
Beach view. Palm trees. |
And more palm trees along the beach.
Beach view. |
The small shacks were you could buy what the
tourist wants. This beach was off the common track and not vulgarized by
mass tourism. Had its own charm. Fishing boats. And they
actually caught some. |
The ugly extremes of modern society.
To the left, an anorexian girl and to the right a big, fat and ugly
member of the British society. We have all the extremes of body shapes in
the Western societies.
Fatso in three variations. |
They drew their net and caught some fish that
was the sold to the beach restaurants for the tourists to enjoy. Martin was
swimming and got caught twice in their net. Close up of the
nets. This is one end of it. The nets were really wide and far reaching. |
Ellen bought some dresses from one of the local
girls on the beach. The Kingfisher bird that has given name
to the local beer as well. Nice beer. |
Buddhist ornament on a local car.
A local holy cow looking for a new suit. |
Martin at the hair cutter. Getting some scruff
off his head. Martin taking some photos before getting cut. |
