Martin planned on a city tour
Our first stop was
Queen Sirikit's
Park in Bangkok. Lovely among the trees. |
Many ponds around. Here Phuong with
one of them. The bridge across was quite original. |
Martin relaxing on one of the many
benches in the park. Phuong crossing one of the bridges. |
Phuong at one of the many lovely
ponds in the garden. Phuong with one of the many flower arrangements in the park. |
Phuong with one of the water lilies
in the ponds. The problem with the part was that everything was texted in Thai and no English. Not tourist friendly. |
Phuong on a hot bench. Phuong in the woods. |
Phuong on the bridges going across
the canals. Phuong on the bridge over one of the canals. |
Phuong on a bridge. Martin on the same bridge. |
Lovely water ways. A nice water display in the background. |
Lovely fountain of
water. Martin on the bridge. |
Phuong and a stone
elephant. Then we were off to the National Museum of Thailand. |
The sign at the
entrance of the park. Phuong arriving to Suza's car. |
The Victory Monument.
Unclear which victory over whom. Overpass next to the monument. |
Details of the Victory
Monument. Another Victory Monument. |
Arriving at the
National Museum of Thailand. The entrance pulpit of some kind. |
Phuong went to a
Buddhist temple to pray to Buddha. Royal carriages. The late king Rama IX is here too. |
Phuong and Martin in
front of one of the impressive carriages. Impressive detail. |
Martin and Stone Face. Outside Martin said hello to one of the mythical animals. |
Big fellow. Martin says good bye. |
Time to move on. One of the workers restoring the outside murals on the buildings. |
Nice pale face. Martin and his stone friend. |
Inside with lovely
artifacts. The old capital of Siam, gutted by the Burmese in 1746. |
Time to leave. Martin on the ground level. |

Cabbage and condoms restaurant that we visited in the Afternoon. The entrance of the restaurant. |
A column of condoms.
The name reflects the fact that condom should be as available and well known
as the vegetable, cabbage. Therefore the name. Martin inside. |
Here you have all the
variations of condoms. Martin had duck breast. A very lovely and well prepared dish.
No candy when you leave, only condoms.
Next door was a beer
hall. Phuong and Martin had a night cap. Budweiser only bar. Very nicely done. The beer was produced in Vietnam. |
Phuong and Marin with a
Bud. In the background, Martin. Two Norwegians in the foreground. |
A lovely end to a very nice day on the town. We went to bed early. |
On Sunday August 4th, it
was time to leave for Laos and Vientiane.
