Summing it all up.

Visit to Nicosia, the divided capital of Cyprus. The part occupied by the Turks is called
The Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC)

To the left, the first stop was a handicraft center just outside Nicosia on the Greek side. Here is an old fashioned loom.

To the right, flowers outside the center.

Our trusty bus that kept the cool inside and the390 Centigrade outside.

The handicraft center set up after the Turks evicted the Greeks from the Northern part of Cyprus.

Busy streets in Nicosia.

Over the border to the Turkish occupation zone as they call it.

The Turkish and the new Northern Cyprus flag side by side in the city square.

The streets are narrow.

Outside a mosque

And outside a church, The Sophia Cathedral turned into a mosque.

Off with the shoes before entering. Nice habit.

Inside the cathedral turned mosque you have the flags of the two Turkish state. Just the opposite of each other.

The pulpit turned into something by the Turks.

The word of wisdom from the Koran. Means anything and nothing depending on the person who reads it.

Lovely church it was.

Helene our tour guide. She was born in Sweden by Greek parents and settled in Cyprus in 1992.

Fruit market was abundant with everything.

Queuing up to get over the border to the free part of Nicosia.

The Turks haven't done much to fix the buildings up after the war.

The Greeks show off the atrocities of the Turks in the occupied zone so there is no doubt about their behavior.

Empty shells of houses as we pass back over the border.

In the free zone at last.

Helene in front again taking us to the restaurant of her choice.

Martin waiting for his well deserved dinner in an air-conned restaurant found by Helene.

Kaffir lime, whatever that is. Martin bought a packet for his daughter in London to try out.

Shopping was endless in the hustling town of free Nicosia.

Ramesh_Jam, the friendly waiter from Nepal serving Martin. A very pleasant acquaintance.

The next day, July 13, Martin spent most of the day at the pool side.
