To the left, the cheeky, sweet Orchid (her real name is
Jawjay Jaihai), a great companion on
a shopping trip. Orchid has a forwardness and spontaneity that other Thai
women don't have. There is a childish joy about her that really appeals to
Western European man. What it really is, Marin cannot really tell. Has to be
experience. To the right, Orchid is ready for a trip to
Krabi. |
Orchid is always fun and games and likes to fool around.
We found a very friendly and well-spoken driver, Bath. As the local cash. |
Arrived in Krabi, close to Vogue shopping mall where Martin
had been before. Martin and Orchid fooling around on the
bonnet of Bath's car. |
Isn't she cute with her teasing look. She really knows how.
Two lovely women, Orchid and a painting. |
The Thais loves their National flag and the royal
flags in different colors. Orchid after her English course.
This is course no 1. She promised to follow it with her friend. |
Orchid, isn't she just gorgeous? Just enjoying herself?
Buying some water before going on at boat trip. |
The boat we used. Martin and Orchid on board
the long-tail boat. |
The boat's captain, Youm-Yang. A friendly fellow that had
his work cut out for him. The buildings along side the river
bed. |
Some sleep on their long tails. Erosion
fences along side the river. Prevent the river banks to disappear. |
Another house on stilts along side the river.
Landing at the fish farm. |
Mussels being peeled for dinner. They are fried. This is the
grandmother of the house doing the food work. The proud
owner of the fish farm. Notice his fingernails if you can. |
Feeding fish. This one just jumps out of the water for a
snack. The turnover from this little fish farm is some 300 kilos of fish a
month. Most of it going to China. Orchid and Martin taking a
closer look at the fishes. |
He even have a big sea turtle in his farm.
This is a rarity. A poisons blow fish. Food for Japanese gourmets. You die
if it is not properly prepared. |
A box fish. It looks like it and feel like it.
Orchid wouldn't kiss it at all. Not Martin for that matter either. |
Feeding a moonfish. A strange fish like a flat flounder, but
it swims vertically in the sea. The owner's humble dwelling.
He is not interested in starting a family. Just to live as he put it before
starting a family. |
Then we were off up-river to some nice stalagmite caves.
Up-river. Typical landmark of Thailand. |
A lone angler outside one of the cave alongside the river
banks. Landed at the cave entrance. |
Orchid reaching up.
Martin posing as a cave man inside the cave. |
Orchid look very bewitching is this light, not so?
The exit towards the other side. |
Some of the weird stalagmite formations inside the cave.
Orchid looking at a big rock with a lot of names engraved in it. Milroy was
here too! |
A fancy palm tree outside the cave. Back to
the boat. A keen photographer seen to the right trying to take a photo of a
small crab in the sand. |
What is more fitting for Orchid than Orchids?
She dresses well with the flowers of her name. |
A stern lady Orchid. Bamboo roots. They eat
them here in Thailand. |
An overview of the extensive market in Krabi.
Krabi actually means sword or monkey. Therefore they have a monkey traffic
light and here an eagle one. |
Then we stopped at Sattha Kuasang
restaurant. A lovely toilet they had and they knew how to serve beer in
a bucket. The waiter showing us the fishes we could choose
from. One was more than enough. |
Mom chops her mouth while holding up her English course with
Martin's dedication.
This is the way the dishes were served. On hot charcoal.
You can see it burning below the metal plates. |
Orchid having a hard time finishing up half a fish. What a
meal? Best Martin had in Thailand so far, but he also had great company in
Orchid. Orchid comes originally from Chiang Mai from the
Northernmost part of Thailand. Most workers from the North are poor and
therefore they come to the South to make a better living. |
