Back to start.
Martin took a trip with Chusak, aka Rak and visited places of
his choosing. Interesting trip in the neighborhood. You find him at +66 87 267
0447. Phone him and check out his English.

To the left, a fancy hotel and Buddha temple outside Ao Nang.
To the right, a detail of the hotel roof. |
Chusak's fancy car, A nice house on the side
of the road. |
The sparse forest at the road side. Chusak
and his dad Papa. |
Martin and Papa Chusak. Fish ready for the
barbeque. Nice ones. |
Papa Chusak's cat among eight. Chusak
outside his humble home in the forest. |
The road leading up to Chusak's humble home.
Nice rock formation outside Chusak's home. Pity the view don't feed him. |
At Gillham's
Fishing Resort outside Krabi. A lovely place for passionate anglers. You
get a big one here, guaranteed. But at a price. The bungalows at THB 3000 (€
80,-) a night and at THB 5000 (€ 120,-) for a days angling.
Part of the pub area. |
The backyard of
Gillham's Fishing Resort.
It is very nice and posh in a glaring contrast to the Thai houses like
Chusak's. Martin and the big UK angler himself, Stuart
Gillham. |
Martin and Stuart having a friendly chat. If you have the
love for angling, this is the place for you. Another view of
Stuart place. He had his son and daughter for a pre Christmas visit just
now. |
The lovely flowers of Thailand. The red
flowers of the bush outside a wealthy home in the area. |
A lovely yellow bush. A local home, a far
cry from the Gillham's. |
One of the fish farms that Stuart uses to breed his big
fishes for his resort. Another view of the pond of the fish
farm. |
At Sea Kayak, you can rent them and use them at your own
peril. Hard work a youngster told Martin. A view from the
kayak area towards the sea. The typical islands of Thailand in the
background. |
Big urns used to collect water. The urn seen
from a distance. They are big. Some 150 centimeters high. |
The water collection system for the urns. On
the way back, this is where they dry shrimps for the fish farms. Lovely view
and a hellish smell. |
Back at
Gillham's Fishing Resort,
Martin watched the pool table. One of the locals at the table.
Mike and Joe had a go at it. Here is Mike performing his victory dance. Very
happy winner. |
Martin and Joe had a go at it. It is some 40 years since
Martin last time played billiard during his student years in the 60-ties.
Martin bought Chusak, aka Rak an English course. Next year,
Martin will pop in and check out his progression. |
The course salesman, Noppadol proudly holding up the course.
The present to Chusak, here seen in the bag and his signature and promise. |
Chusak's promise that says he will learn English and teach
his sons English. Will he keep his promise? Time will show.
Then we stopped at Sattha Kuasang
restaurant. A lovely loo. |
Martin was there the day before and the staff knew what
Martin wanted. Long Tom beers in a cooler. A very nice touch. You can phone
this lovely restaurant at +66 81 0822 810 or +66 86 747 2383.
The beer in the cooler, Martin's way. |
These are the leftovers from another meal. Fresh water
snails. It's very good and tasty. Martin and Chusak's meal.
Martin couldn't take Chusak's hot stuff, but the omelet was nice. |
This meal with two beers and a bottle of water was THB 270,-
or less than € 10,-. That's cheap. Try it if you're in these parts of the
woods. Fresh water crabs. They are more expensive. |
Live salt water crabs and lobsters. The white stuff is salt
to keep the animals alive before serving. Martin didn't try these, but will
next time around. |
