Summing it all up.

Sep 22nd: The awards ceremony and last visit to Roger.

Two videos were taken this day. It's an interview with Roger that was cut in two pieces due to lacking capabilities of the camera. Part 1 and part 2.

To the left, Rogers wife Alida to the far right, and their son Michel in the middle.

To the right, the last look at Rue de Republic, a place Martin frequented many times during his 12 days stay in France.

The last look at the entrance at Rue de Republic. A place Martin loved to visit.

Greg's place is not bad either.

The entrance gate that screwed up Martin's rental, not once but twice.

This is the culprit, the gate in all its glory.

At 1800 the show at the price giving ceremony was due to start. The opened the doors 1810.

Being French and very effective, they had one of some 8 doors opened for some 1000 people. At 1930 everybody had been seated.

Inside was OK laid out.

With all the flags for all the participating nations nicely hung up under the ceiling. The prerequisite were well done.

The Norwegian people. Only 25 of some 50 showed up. Martin left around 2030. It was getting nowhere and the food wasn't arriving as it should. Martin skipped the boring show in the French language with lousy loudspeakers, and if they spoke English, you couldn't hear a shit due to echo in the big hall.

Martin went to the local restaurant just around the corner for the hotel. It's called La Bastide du Grand Tilleul. A place not recommende.

The starter was excellent, but the main course, goose liver, a French specialty, tasted horrible. Just like big lumps of cold fat to swallow. It was sickening and not to be recommended by anyone who hates fat. Goose liver is basically fat. They force feed their geese so the liver gets unnatural big and overgrown. They screw the feed down the hapless birds throats.

They had nice gas heaters that worked very well in the not to chilly evening. Martin's waiter, an impatient and unpleasant person hurries buy. Just hurried you to order, wouldn't explain anything. An example of an unhelpful and unfriendly Frenchman. Unfortunately, there are a few of them.

A nice French couple arrived with their little girl Anne-Marie. She and her boyfriend Maxime picked all the red flowers on the hedge around the tables outside the restaurant. Pleasantly well behaved kids.

For dessert Martin got some greasy salad and unsavory cheese, The whole meal was a letdown except for the starters. Except for the beers.  They cannot get that wrong. The food was € 31,-. A pizza for 5 Euros would have been far better, but it was Martin's last meal in France and he wanted to blow some of his leftover Euros.

The next day, Sunday 23rd, it was time for going back home to Norway.
