First impressions:
Arriving in Cyprus, what really made you happy was the efficient way they
checked your passport. No extra forms, no extra payments, just a friendly
officer just glancing at your passport.
Weather:
It was a little hot for the season, from 26 - 29O Centigrade. Perfect
for a Northerner. Even when overcast, it was a pleasant temperature and not
humid.
The people:
What makes a trip in addition to the country is the people you meet and the
first impressions were very friendly and forthcoming. And so they were. Even
Swedes were nice in Cyprus.
Commercialization:
Cyprus has a history of invasion by the Turks in 1974 that divided the island.
Look at the map of the island.
Martin stayed at a little place called Agia Napa.
This is a tourist city build entirely after 1974 for the tourists. And it is
heavily commercialized as the picture shows.
But there are neither any pushy salesmen nor any beggars as
opposed to Egypt and Goa.
Recommendations:
Martin really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere in the town. People are nice and
friendly and know their future lie with the tourists. You feel welcome and
Martin wouldn't mind taking another trip. At a reasonable cost :-)
