In Mingun, we looked at a big rubble heap and in Mandalay we visited a temple and  monastery of wood. Our last day on the boat before going back to Yangon and Bangkok.

World biggest heap of brick rubble.

It was meant to be 3 times as big, but an earth quake destroyed it.

It is a stupa, meaning it is not hollow, it is solid.

With a few niches for relics of Buddha etc.

Martin and some local transport.

Unfinished lion's ass, the guardians of the stupa.

Local taxi service. Martin didn't use it.

There are two of these unfinished lions.

Martin with a coconut drink.

Back to the boat.

Off to town where Martin bought this shirt for Karl Martin, MartinK's son of 2.

Another pagoda, stupa or temple or whatever, to visit.

Martin got tired.

Helge kept going.

Martin and the lions. It gives you an idea of the dimensions of the lions.

Captain on the bridge of our ship.

Martin with his pink beer.

The sideways look at the bridge.

Martin and his drink.

The new bridge in the horizon.

Upriver.

Daily washing being done.

River bank.

More pagodas.

Lovely one.

Street walk.

Big museum, pagoda.

Bronze figures.

Commerce for what it is worth.

Video feed for woman that is not allowed to get close to the Golden Buddha. The locals plaster leaf gold on the statue, making it uniformly.

Jorunn with a gong.

Bell tower.

Golden Buddha.

Long halls with commerce as far as the eye could see.

Warriors of the past.

They are the guardians of something.

Martin with his longyi dress that he bought. He wore it in Bangkok.

It is actually very comfy in the heat, but is lacking pockets.

Lovely whatever.

Nice toilet sign Martin has ever sat eyes on.

Wooden monastery make out of teak.

Students are maintaining parts of it.

Mandalay train station.

Busy street of Mandalay.

Martin in Mandalay. Nice name, not so nice city.

Mandalay university.

In the evening, we were presented for the crew that was looking after us. These 3 photos are the curtsey of Otto.

The staff could sing too.

Here is the rest.

These 7 photos are the curtsey of Knut.

He was joined by some ladies from the shore. There are no female staff on the ship.

To the left one of the local dancers.

Not bad at all.

It was quite entertaining.

Wide angled pictures of the staff taken by Knut.

Thomas has played in a band before and showed up with his skills too.

Thomas did well.

On Saturday November 24th, it was time to leave for Yangon and Bangkok.
