Summing it all up.

This cloudy and windy Thursday took us from Jeffrey's Bay to Kidd's Beach. The route is below. It was chosen because of scenic beauty close to the coast.

To the left, just leaving Jeffrey's Bay, it was on the scenic road to Kidd's Beach. Why it got this name is a mystery. It doesn't seem very safe for anyone.

To the right, the lush vegetation along the road so close to the sea. And it rains a lot.

Cop stops are frequent. They check you for guns, contraband and drugs. They are not needed here, but in the streets when tourists get mugged.

At last Port Alfred, the goal for last night, but was never reached.

Martin's workshop in Port Alfred. Nice name.

Even an old Amazon turned up on the road. This car must be more than 60 years old and still running. What a feat.

All along this coast you have many estuarial areas well suited for holiday purposes. Most probably, well off inhabitants from Port Elisabeth or East London.

Nice for fishing.

And there we are at last, Port Alfred. See map above.

After another two hours, there it is, the goal for the day, Kidd's Beach.

Wild is was and Martin cruised around to find a place for the night. And he did at Sarah's place at the outskirts of the town. And that's only 1100 meters.

Her lawns are immaculate. But what a wind today?

Lovely house it is as well. Why someone will spend so much money on a nice house like this at this godforsaken place, is a puzzle.

The rental was big and spacious, clean, well equipped and cheap. Good value for money.

The neighbors closer to the "town" center.

The only butchery and restaurant in town. Not much to write home about. But the only and best one for miles.

Motor Guzzi. A local came for a drink and a drive.

The local butcher takes his cutoffs and make potkoos, a local dish in South Africa and a traditional one among the early Dutch settlers.

Friday Dec 1st, was the long haul to Welcome via Bloemfontein.
