Summing it all up.

March 26B - The Dead Sea

The second half was the return journey from Jerusalem, a stop at the Dead Sea for a dip and back to Eilat.

At certain points on the road to the Dead Sea, they have markers along side the road saying the level in relation to the sea level.

The roads towards the Dead Sea through the desert landscape.

In the haze, Jericho were the walls came tumbling down.

At the bottom, some 400 meters under the sea level, you can turn left to Jericho or right towards Eilat.

Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found.

The level of the Dead Sea is reclining all the time due to the low inflow into the sea. Can be seen here.

Our stop, ready for a dip in the salty drink. 37% salt is the water made up of. All kinds of minerals.

People in the drink. The water feel oily on your skin due to the salinity.

The spa where people suffering from psoriasis live. They have their own beach where they can skin dip.

Free black mud to sit on for at least 20 min to take effect.

The whole happy, muddy family lined up and ready for a swim.

Martin in the drink with hat and all.

You float easily. Behind is a barrier warning you to come close due to sulfurous gases coming up.

Breast stroke is very difficult with this kind of buoyancy.

Then back to the restaurant for a well tasting dinner. You really felt well after a dip in this kind of mineral water. It is very good for your skin. And the fact you are so low under the sea level, the sun rays don't burn you as much due to thicker air layers.

The next day we spent Eilat working through all the pictures and impressions from the trip to Jerusalem. An emotional and most interesting trip well worth its cost..
