Summing it all up.

Another lazy day on the boat before going back to the hotel.

To the left, you have the map over the Chappora river.

To the right, Martin was up early to see the sun rise, but it was very misty so the sun had this red glow through it.

The double deck of the boat. It had and extra roof above the main one. Most probably to take off the worst rain during the monsoon period.

Love fishermen in the early, grey morning.

The table from the night before.

Anchor away. Pulling it up before we could sail away on our little day trip.

There were 3 crew members on board during the night The next morning the other two arrived.

Here Bubba, the captain is picking them up. We were three guests and five crew members. How can they make this pay?

The ferry boat. Three of them were used before the new bridge was built.

Mango grove. This is an estuary and salt water way up the river. During the monsoon, you have fresh water almost to the mouth of the river.

Some lone birds along the riverside.

Strange sights. Fishing for sand from the river bed. Hauling up into the boat by hand.

Here they are pulling the bucket up one by one till the boat is almost sunk.

Then the unload it the same way. Bucket by bucket. This sand is of fine quality and is used in the building industry for making cement and concrete.

The main road to Bombay. This is the river. Biggest traffic hazard is cows sleeping in the road during the night.

Another tourist ship just passed under the bridge.

Detailed view from underneath the bridge.

Martin in his colorful outfit from the previous trip to Goa in Nov/Dec 2007,

Water buffaloes, one in the water and the rest on land on Crocodile island. We saw a baby one.

More sump plants. It's low tide and the plants shows.

A close up of the old ferry boat. This one is still in operations.

Lovely lunch table with traditional Indian cuisine. Martin was the only one eating fish and chicken.

Goro going ashore to pick up the mooring.

Preeti the pretty smart one ashore after 24 hours on board the boat. Rupa in the background.

An old  shop owner phlegmatically watching the traffic going by. And it's lots and lots.

Street vendors along side the road.
Then Martin was back to his hotel.

The next day, Thursday January 3rd, it was time for trip to the beach and to visit Martin's foster kids, Rupa and Anita.
