Martin and Phuong arrived from Nha trang, Vietnam.

How to get to Phu Quoc island from Saigon.

From the airport to the hotel, La Mer.

Overview of the island.

Cable car, one of the famous things to do on the island.

The train to Saigon was freezing cold. Martin didn't come to Vietnam to freeze!

Everybody on the train had facemasks. Martin too.

Saigon railway station around 0600 in the morning.

Our Grace hotel has been renamed to Lotus Central. Not a bad name.

ViAnh and Martin at the rooftop pool around 0639. Lovely.

Martin and ViAnh with the city in the background.

ViAnh loves to watch dumb TV. Typical child.

Rarity in Vietnam, traffic cops.

Off to the airport. Busy streets of Saigon.

Off to check in, an ordeal.

Everybody have face masks.

Finally through check-in, security check an boarding waiting, off to the plane.

Our plane, Vietnam Airlines.

Landed in Phu Quoc after 33 minutes in the air. The airline says 1 hour, but they mean air-plane time. Including tarmac waiting and taxing.

They have the Chinese virus on Phu Quoc as well.

Phu Quoc airport. Nice little one.

At the hotel, the pool is always shorter than it looks.

Our "bungalow" was OK, old and worn.

Welcome to La Mer, The Sea Resort. Adequate but too expensive for the value received.

ViAnh in the pool. The Resort charged an extra 240K dong (12 USD) for her. Not good. Watch her video.

Phuong took over as chef at grilling shrimps. She did well.

A big family on the table next door. The children wanted to practice their English. Martin obliged.

Happy, big Vietnamese family. 15 in in total. Man with his in-laws.

Martin and ViAnh at the table.

Plenty of trash after one kgs of prawns were consumed.

On Thursday August 28th, our first day at on Phu Quoc Island.
