After a few days, Martin has settled in at Nang Rong.

Jan 23, fish dinner.
Fresh fish from the market ready to be served.

Boss helped with the cooking as well.

The fishes are cooking nicely on the charcoal grill.

Martin enjoyed it very much.

Jan 24, another day.
Ready for an afternoon swim. It is too chilly in the morning. It is at The Akelada hotel and is 12,5 meters long. The boss there is a lovely woman called Pornpilai at 080 4745 597. Contact her for booking.

The pool looks tempting up to 24 degrees from the day before of 23.

Martin goes for it and jumps straight in after a shower.

Martin swims 8 lengths (12,5 meters) crawls and 2 lengths backstroke shown here. It is to break up the monotony of swimming 150 length or 1875 meters in one go.

The view towards the main hotel.

Back in Lais garden for an evening meal.

The mother and son prepares the dinner while Martin has prepared the grill.

Mother and son working nicely together.

Jan 25, visiting mother's house.
Every shack in Thailand has one. Everybody has a TV.

Typical house of Varin, Lai's sister.

Cassava or manioc root used in beer making.

They are very popular. This one got first price for size and form.

Sweet tamarind, very good to chew on.

They make waffles in Thailand too.

Lai buying oranges.

Yot, Lai's brother-in-law, Lai and Varin, Lai's sister are buying rose apple. Very nice.

Lai's son Boss is trying out air-guns.

The market area seen from the outside.

Kiddies slide is part of it all.

Martin with his new hair do. His daughter Tanya will like this.

Martin with one of the locals.

The cassava bush or grass. But it is the root below the ground that is use for food stuff.

Jan 26, easy day.
Lai's kitchen which is overcrowded with junk she doesn't use.

The view from the living room towards the porch and neighbors.

Martin enjoying the breakfast on the porch.

Lai and Martin having breakfast.

Jan 27, car new battery.
One new building going up in center of town.

Street of Nang Rong.

At the swimming pool, the car died. The battery was absolutely flat.

Grumpy Lai at the swimming pool. She didn't want to swim.

Lai with the stopped car.

Changing battery for the car. THB 2400,- with trade-in or US $80,- or thereabout.

Lai with her lazy neighbor Toy. She says she wants to do English, but never do.

Lai making the evening dinner.

Jan 28, swimming.
Martin bought two chairs for Lai and she bought 4 cupcakes for her son.

Time for an afternoon swim in a very green, and dirty pool. The filter pump had been left off during the cold spell.

Martin and his backstroke.

Martin finished 150 laps or 1875 meters. Martin uses exactly 60 minutes on the ordeal.

Martin getting dressed. The reason for his swimming can clearly be seen on his back. Scars after 2 operations.

Lai had her period so she used the Hula-Hoop instead

Boss, Lai's son is catching catfish in the pond behind Lai's house.

Lai in the entrance of the house with her newly bought curtains.

In the evening, time for a reasonable priced dinner next to the city lake.

The sunset over the main street.

All food stuff is priced less than 100 bath or 3 US $. The beers are 2 dollars each.

Lai likes to pose with a beer, she never drinks.

Jan 31, furniture.
Lai got the Norwegian next to the Thai one.

The pool at The Akelada hotel is nicer by the day after the filtering pump had started to work.

Martin is ready for his swim.

Lai is shopping furniture. Martin got one that is nice and practical.

The cabinet in the bedroom. The plan is to have a 42" TV on top of it. The view is from the bed.

The neighbor Bruce from Australia and Toy. Bruce is very generous with his money. Martin is not.

The following week, Saturday February 1st, it was the last week in Thailand before returning to Norway.
