To the left, Martin's famous laundry on the line outside the room. The junk behind our hotel. Not impressive. |
Then off to the flooded areas. The waterline is clearly seen. The rubbish is amazing. Only after two weeks, most of it is cleared away. |
The waters was some 150 cm above
street level in this area where Kran's lawyer lives. But there are plenty of rubbish left. |
Selection of rubbish. More junk that needs to be cleared away. |
These trees are dead. The drowned
during the flooding. So did this car. Two weeks under water don't make for drivable any more. |
There is a
video you can watch of this
rubbish. Off to meet Kung making a point here. |
Mhee, Kran's lawyer's wife. A
lovely, balance woman. Kung thinks beauty is in the paint. It is not. Exercise makes the beauty come from inside. |
Inside Mhee's house, you can see
the marks of the water as it was for two weeks. Amazing that it looks so
good. This is Mhee's house. |
On the way back, some Buddha
figures for sale. For your own temple at home. Most Thais have one. A quick pit stop. Urinals for small and big boys are available. |
More flooding rubbish. This used to be a canal at one stage. |
Off to a lovely
restaurnat. Eak, a nice waiter served us an exquisite meal. Martin's favorite, chicken with chestnuts in sweet and sour sauce. |
Martin teaching Nong
waitress how to poor beer in a glass. She was new to her job. Indian pumpkin as they are called, but they are calabash. |
The restaurant had an
in-house band as well. The exit was nice. |
Mud walls that
protected part of Bangkok. The fish is back and the nets are out. |
North of this flood
wall, everything got flooded. South of it not where Nongyao's house is situated. |
But it was touch and
go. In the back, you see the wall. Everything behind it was flooded, not the
houses in the front. Nooi, the nurse that looks after Kran's cancer sick father at Nongyao's house. |
Nongyao's house has a
second story used for nothing. Why? In the evening, time for a big beer with condom. They don't have condoms for beers in Bangkok. Thais prefer to cool their beer with ice cubes, while foreigners don't like their beers watered down and prefer to keep it cool by using condoms. |
Martin had salmon sushi for dinner. Lovely and nice. |
The next day, Thursday January 5th, it was time for
a visit from cousin Arild and his girlfriend Jiratip.
