To the left, the pool view from Martin's room.
To the right, the view over the valley from Bellevue. |
The local fur trees around the pool. It takes a lot of
cleaning. Jan, married to Reidun and Robert, the local host
of Bellevue in a nice chat at breakfast. |
Martin brings his new fancy scale. For € 100,- it should be.
Fat %-age and everything. And then it gives in after two days! There are plenty of watering
channels. The water coming from the Rhone, one of the main rivers in the
area. |
To keep the water lever right, you have a sluice to regulate
the level. Nice. Yvonne, Martin's helpful manager of the
tourist bureau at the tiny village of Cheval-Blanch. You find it on the map
if you look hard enough. It's inside a
circle of red. |
Yvonne's tourist bureau in the middle of Cheval-Blanche.
For some odd reasons, the restaurants were closed. Here you have Martin's
lovely VolksWagen in front of a closed restaurant opposite Yvonne's tourist
bureau. |
On route to the shooting range. Compex sportife is the
place. All shooting ranges are out in the dumps. This is the
overpass of the French super train, Train a Grand Vitesse or TGV as they
love to call it. |
Martin with his camera always on the ready, managed to take
a picture of the train passing by at some 200 kms plus. Maximum speed is
recorded to 515 kms an hour. That's fast. |
At the range, Martin met Christian, an amazingly friendly
French guy that helped Martin with his lousy French. The
feeding tents for the shootists isn't bad. Big and nicely done. |
Then you have the stages. Martin has seen them all since his
first World Shoot in South Africa in 1979. Then in 1981 and 1991. Big deal.
Here you have stage 9. OK. |
Stage 1. What is there to say? Boring. A
lovely twist. A snow scooter in all the sand to shoot from? That's a new
one. Great. |
In all this desolate sand pits, you find an old boat
decorated with flowers? Must be some lovely Frenchie who thought the place
needed a little freshening up. Fantastic idea. The creator has some real
enthusiasm for flowers anywhere. After the collapse of the
Soviet Union, all the former oppressed republics enjoy shooting. Here is a
Check commercial. Very good. Martin hated and still hates the commies. |
At the parking lot, Martin's Volksie is well placed.
To brothers in arms from the local place at Cheval-Blanc. No beers for
shottists, just for tourists. Martin had two the legal limit for driving.
The beers here are only 25 centiliters and you need two to make a pint. |
Indonesia is to host the next World Shoot in 2008 and they
have a big contingent of shooters and ROs (Range Officers). Here you have a
lovely female RO from the country mentioned. And the audience was the
Indonesian team that did the pre-shoot for the to be ROs during the main
shoot that starts on Monday the 17th of September.
Then it was back to town of Cavaillon, the only place in 50 kms radius that
had an Internet café. Martin found it after some 4 hours search. Cavaillon
is on the map it you bother to look. It is
circled as well. |
The streets of Cavaillon were lovely and picturesque and
Martin had to ask a lot of people to finally find the place.
Martin proudly outside the Internet café he worked so hard to find. The
owner was very helpful and friendly and the price wasn't too bad at all.
Tomorrow, Martin will bring his laptop and do some real serious computer
work on the Internet. |
A lovely couple from Arendal in Norway. Jan to the left.
Reidun to the right and Martin in the middle with his fancy suspenders. The
food at the hotel Bellevue is really great. We all loved it. |
