After an eventless night from Doha, Martin arrived on schedule in Bangkok and took of to his old hotel, the Ambassador.

Boarding the plane in Doha, just after midnight. All of us from the rear door. Not smart.

Landed in Bangkok with the airports' easy recognizable steel constructions.

Before entering the airport, you are checked again.

The long moving pavements are very efficient.

Martin's bank, The Siam Commercial Bank of Thailand. Martin cashes out the max amount THB 20.000,- when he arrives. Some US $ 670,-.

Then we have to wait in the passport control counters. It takes for ever.

Finally through, Martin's rucksack arrives.

After advice from his friend, Roy, Martin will retire his rucksack after this trip. He will buy a new suitcase in Thailand this time.

The exit hall with the construction in the background.

The caps of the Qatar Airlines are very stylish. Not the usual scarf worn by Arab women. If they had, Martin would not have used this airline, even though it is rated as the world's best by the customers.

Time for a cab driver to go to The Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok.

The shy cab lady giving Martin's his cab ticket.

The trappings of any Thai cab driver showing his belief in Buddha.

Mosques are every were. They are in Bangkok too.

A fancy block of flats of the way to the hotel.

The sky-line of Bangkok is not impressive from view point.

A golfing cage where you can practice your drive. They are quite common in densely populate areas of the big cities of the world.

Martin's cab driver's details as shown in the cab for the customers' safety.

The hallmark of Bangkok, street kitchen everywhere. They are an omnipresent part of daily life in Bangkok.

Martin at his best in bed with his PC in room 636. A nice room.

It was a cloudy afternoon in Bangkok and the pool was dark green.

Then the heavens opened up. Watch the video, some 20 MBytes.

Martin and a very happy 75 year young Canadian writer, Madeline Thompson. She was great fun.

Martin's favorite waiter at Rosabieng Restaurant, Ao.

A new restaurant has cropped up in front of the Tower Block of The Ambassador Hotel Bangkok. Martin will check it out.

The next day, Friday August 17th, it was time for loafing around and doing some computer work.
