Summing it all up.

Sep 16, first day at Ambassador hotel

The Ambassador Hotel is a rather expensive hotel smack bang in the middle of the business streets of Bangkok.

To the left, the pool some 20 meters long taken from the 18th floor were Martin stayed. It was raining this fine Tuesday in Bangkok. Martin didn't care since it was free Internet connection in the room, something it shouldn't be.

A very tempting mini-bar. Martin couldn't resist the peanuts and cashew nuts.

The central tower of the Ambassador. Martin is on the 18th floor. The hotel was recommended to me by my cousin who stayed here five years ago. The hotel wants its cut of the sex trade and has a secret (not to be copied statement) joiner policy stating:

A lady joiner is not allowed to stay overnight with an in-house guest unless she registers at the front reception. For security reasons, the lady joiner has has to deposit her identification card at the security department. The room rate chargeable for the lady joiner would be 1000 bath net (without breakfast).

When my cousin wanted to reminisce about his stay, he is not allowed due to the policy above. The net result if I rent a suite, I cannot have a business meeting in my suite due to the joiner policy. That this is applied to business contacts is simply too dumb.
Note: This policy has been changed since 2008 and the policy is much better and relaxed. Martin July 23rd, 2012.

Martin bought a pair of light, fluffy pair of trousers. Very pleasant to wear.

Suda, the cleaner of Martin rooms. As all Thai people, very friendly and courteous. Great service.

It was off to Pantip Plaza, one of the biggest computer markets in the world. Six stories in total.

The bottom floor of the Pantip Plaza. You have everything.

They are really down at the bit level using a copper bit to fix the motherboard.

Typical outfits for working women in Thailand. This is hard physical labor, not sex trade.

Standard loo in Thailand. Do you're heavy stuff in the hotel unless you're very agile and fit.

Behind the scenes in Mama's. Not up Norwegian health standards.

After the computer shopping time for some Thai food. Martin and Tukta seen here at Mama's restaurant.

Tukta's sister in Bangkok.

Always food. No wonder that Arild is fat and will stay that way around Tukta and her family.

Doing some karaoke at a local bar. Tukta's niece shown here to the left of Martin.

Tukta did some singing as well. This was an exercise in unmusical excesses of another world.

Security looking after the hotel's joiner policy, locked down in the drawer to the left. Not to be photographed. Veeeeeeeery secret :-)

The next day, Wednesday, it was time for visiting Arild's printer in Bangkok.
