To the left, our very professional and friendly
receptionist, Nectaria. To the right, our rental car, a cute
Hyundai from Korea. |
Library along the road on the East coast.
And typical bars in the small villages crowding the road along the water
front. Zorbas is this one. |
Newly built houses along the sea front.
Nice, but stony beaches. |
The Kamiros Ruins where the EU and Greek flags are flown.
The ruins proper. These are also called the Pompeii of Rhodes. |
Then at Kamiros of today, we had our breakfast by the sea at
a local fish restaurant. Delicious. And as always, flowers
all over the show. As here by the table area of the restaurant. |
The fresh cod from the sea was divine. Not too expensive
either. A little of the domestic animal life, goats along
side the road. |
And olive groves were dotted all over the landscape.
Road signs are nice to use as a navigation mark of our
photos. Knowing where we took which photos. |
And roadside chapels or memorials was a typical sight of
this Greek orthodox island. And a quick peep at the sea
while passing by. |
Interesting stone layers that the road cut through.
The Monolithos castle built by the Crusaders in Medieval time. |
The castle on top. Quite impressive it is. |
And on the top, a chapel. And Martin on top
with the view towards the North-West. |
A whole in the wall of the ruins. And on to
the road again. Kattavia is one of the Southernmost towns of Rhodes. |
Lovely flowers along the road. And it does
rain. This is a storm drain picking up the water when it falls in the hills. |
Lindos on the Eastern shores are a white, popular holiday
resort. With a lovely harbor below. |
And the season hasn't started yet. A little too cold so
early in the season. And back on the road. Rodos is also the
capital of the island of Rhodes (English spelling). |
A glimpse of the sea before heading inland towards the 7
springs which in Greek is Epta Piges.
The diner is situated fantastically among the trees and the
springs. |
Martin in the woods. The dam that keep some
of the water in the creek. |
Martin having a quiet beer among the trees.
And four generations of owner. Great grand- and granddad on the wall, while
father and son still kicking in the front. |
Peacock is a part of the attraction. And
chapels along the roads are every where. |
And big ones too. |
